Ras El Hanout 50g Spice Blend

Ras El Hanout 50g Spice Blend

Ras El Hanout 50g Spice Blend-More Than 15 Spices in One Extraordinary Moroccan Blend

Ras El Hanout isn't the kind of spice blend most people already have sitting in their pantry.

And that's exactly what makes it interesting.

Its name translates roughly as “head of the shop” — traditionally referring to a spice merchant's finest or most prized blend.

SpicenEasy Ras El Hanout brings together more than 15 spices, with flavours including cinnamon, cumin, ginger, cardamom, allspice and a touch of rose petal.

The result is warm, aromatic and complex — not aggressively hot.

Instead of buying a long list of individual spices to recreate Moroccan flavour at home, Ras El Hanout gives you those layers in one ready-balanced blend.

Use it in tagines, couscous, roasted vegetables, chicken, lamb, soups, stews and marinades.

Recipe For Ras El Hanout

Ras El Hanout Chicken Tagine

*(Serves 4-6)*

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on for best flavor)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp Ras El Hanout (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 cinnamon stick (or ½ tsp ground cinnamon)

  • 1 cup chicken stock

  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes (or 2 fresh tomatoes, chopped)

  • ½ cup dried apricots (or dates/raisins)

  • ½ cup green olives (optional, for contrast)

  • 1 preserved lemon, peel rinsed and sliced (or zest of 1 lemon)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, to garnish

  • Toasted almonds (for crunch, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Brown the chicken: Heat oil in a tagine or heavy pot. Season chicken with salt, then sear until golden (5 mins/side). Remove and set aside.

  2. Sauté aromatics: In the same pot, cook onion until soft (5 mins). Add garlic, Ras El Hanout, cumin, ginger, and cinnamon stick; stir 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. Simmer: Pour in stock and tomatoes, scraping up browned bits. Return chicken to the pot. Add apricots, olives, and lemon.

  4. Cook low & slow: Cover and simmer 30-40 mins (or bake at 325°F/160°C) until chicken is tender.

  5. Serve: Garnish with herbs and almonds. Enjoy with couscous or crusty bread.

Why This Recipe Works:

  • The Ras El Hanout infuses the dish with warmth (cinnamon, cardamom) and depth (turmeric, cloves).

  • Sweet & savory balance from dried fruit and olives is classic Moroccan.

  • Preserved lemon adds a unique tang (substitute lemon zest if needed).

Why Choose SpicenEasy Ras El Hanout?

More than 15 spices in one blend
One of the easiest ways to experience a genuinely complex spice profile without filling your cupboard with individual ingredients.

Warm and aromatic rather than chilli-hot
Perfect when you want depth and fragrance without overpowering heat.

The classic flavour of Moroccan-style cooking
An easy starting point for tagines, couscous, slow-cooked meats and vegetable dishes.

Works beautifully with sweet and savoury ingredients together
Its warm spices pair especially well with dried fruit, nuts, pumpkin, carrots and lamb.

Ideal when you want to cook something completely different
If your usual seasonings are starting to feel repetitive, Ras El Hanout gives familiar ingredients an entirely new direction.

What Does Ras El Hanout Taste Like?

Ras El Hanout is warm, fragrant, slightly sweet, earthy and complex.

Cinnamon contributes gentle sweetness.

Cumin provides earthy warmth.

Ginger brings brightness and warmth.

Cardamom adds fragrance, while allspice contributes sweet-spiced depth.

A subtle touch of rose adds another aromatic layer.

Because so many spices are working together, it's difficult to describe Ras El Hanout as tasting like any single ingredient.

That's part of its appeal.

How to Use Ras El Hanout

Chicken Tagine

Cook chicken slowly with onion, Ras El Hanout, tomatoes or stock and ingredients such as apricots, olives, almonds or preserved lemon.

Lamb

Rub onto lamb with olive oil and salt before roasting, grilling or slow cooking.

Couscous

Stir a little into couscous along with olive oil, herbs, dried fruit or toasted nuts.

Roasted Vegetables

Toss carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato or cauliflower with oil and Ras El Hanout before roasting.

Chickpea & Vegetable Stews

Add to chickpeas, lentils, tomatoes and vegetables for an easy Moroccan-inspired one-pot meal.

Marinades

Mix with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and salt for chicken, lamb, tofu or vegetables.

An Easier Way to Try Moroccan Cooking

This is exactly the kind of blend where buying every spice individually can become impractical.

A traditional Ras El Hanout can contain a long list of ingredients — and the balance between them is what creates its distinctive character.

SpicenEasy combines more than 15 spices for you.

One blend. More than 15 spices. No complicated measuring.

You can then concentrate on the ingredients that actually make the meal yours — chicken, lamb, vegetables, couscous, chickpeas, dried fruit or whatever you have on hand.

Try It This Way

For an easy Moroccan-style tray bake, toss chicken thighs, pumpkin, carrots and onion with olive oil, Ras El Hanout and a little salt.

Roast until the chicken is cooked and the vegetables are caramelised.

Serve with couscous and yoghurt.

It's an easy way to experience the blend without having to make a traditional tagine.

Beyond Tagine

Once you've opened the pack, try it in:

• Roast chicken
• Lamb chops
• Slow-cooked lamb
• Couscous
• Rice
• Quinoa
• Chickpea stew
• Lentil soup
• Pumpkin soup
• Roast carrots
• Sweet potato
• Cauliflower
• Grilled tofu
• Marinades
• Tray bakes

Ras El Hanout is especially useful whenever you want to turn simple meat or vegetables into something much more aromatic and unexpected.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place to help preserve its complex aroma.

Other Popular Uses for Ras El Hanout:

  • Lamb Kebabs: Rub on lamb before grilling.
