Fish Masala 70g Spice Blend

Fish Masala 70g Spice Blend

Fish Masala 70g Spice Blend-Made for Fish — Because Delicate Seafood Needs a Different Kind of Spice Blend

Fish doesn't need to be buried under heavy spice.

It needs flavour that complements it rather than overpowers it.

That's exactly what SpicenEasy Fish Masala is designed to do.

This carefully balanced blend combines coriander, turmeric, fennel and tangy amchur — dried green mango powder — to create a bright, aromatic spice profile especially suited to fish and seafood.

Use it as the base for a traditional fish curry, mix it with lemon and oil for a marinade, coat fish before pan-frying or use it with prawns and other seafood.

Recipe for Fish Masala

Fish Masala Fry (Using Fish Masala Powder)

Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 15 mins (+ 20 mins marination)
Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients:

For Marination:
  • 500g (1 lb) firm fish (e.g., Tarakihi, lemon fish, or salmon)

  • 1 tbsp fish masala powder (SpicenEasy)

  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp rice flour or semolina (for crispiness, optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp oil (for frying)

Optional Tempering (Tadka):
  • 1 tbsp oil

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • 2-3 curry leaves

  • 1 dried red chili

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Fish:

  1. Clean and pat dry the fish. Make shallow cuts (for better spice absorption).

  2. In a bowl, mix fish masala powder, red chili powder, turmeric, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, salt, and rice flour (if using).

  3. Coat the fish evenly and marinate for 20-30 mins.

2. Shallow Fry the Fish:

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat.

  2. Place the fish gently and fry for 4-5 mins per side until golden and crispy.

  3. Remove and drain on a paper towel.

3. Tempering (Optional but Recommended):

  1. In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp oil.

  2. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chili. Let them splutter.

  3. Pour this tempering over the fried fish for extra aroma.

4. Serve Hot:

  • Garnish with lemon wedges and onion rings.

  • Pairs perfectly with steamed rice, dal, or roti.

Why Choose SpicenEasy Fish Masala?

Specifically balanced for fish and seafood
The blend is designed to complement delicate seafood flavours rather than overwhelm them.

Bright, aromatic and gently tangy
Amchur adds subtle tang while coriander, fennel and turmeric create warmth and fragrance.

Multiple spices in one ready-balanced blend
No need to measure several individual spices every time you cook fish.

Use it for much more than fish curry
Try it with grilled fish, pan-fried fillets, prawns, seafood curries and even fish tacos or wraps.

An easy way to make seafood more interesting
A simple piece of fish can become something completely different with the right seasoning.

What Does Fish Masala Taste Like?

Fish Masala is light, aromatic, earthy and gently tangy.

Coriander provides fragrant citrusy-earthy notes.

Turmeric adds warmth, earthiness and its characteristic golden colour.

Fennel contributes a delicate sweet-anise aroma, while amchur adds a subtle fruity tang that works particularly well with seafood.

The result is a blend with enough character to transform fish, while still allowing the natural flavour of the seafood to come through.

How to Use Fish Masala

Classic Fish Curry

Sauté onion, ginger and garlic, then add Fish Masala and briefly cook the spices.

Add tomatoes, coconut milk or your preferred curry base, then gently add firm pieces of fish toward the end of cooking.

Pan-Fried Fish

Mix Fish Masala with a little salt and coat fish fillets before pan-frying.

Add a squeeze of lemon before serving.

Grilled Fish

Combine Fish Masala with lemon juice and oil and use as a quick marinade before grilling or barbecuing.

Prawns

Toss prawns with Fish Masala, garlic, lemon and a little oil before pan-frying or barbecuing.

Seafood Curry

Use it with prawns, mussels, scallops or a combination of seafood to build an aromatic curry.

Fish Tacos & Wraps

Season fish with the blend before grilling or pan-frying, then serve in tacos or wraps with fresh salad, yoghurt or a cooling sauce.

An Easier Way to Season Fish Properly

Fish can be surprisingly difficult to season.

Too little flavour and the dish feels plain.

Too much heavy spice and you lose the delicate character of the seafood altogether.

Fish Masala gives you a starting point where the spices have already been chosen to work together.

Instead of buying and measuring coriander, turmeric, fennel, amchur and other spices individually, the balancing has already been done for you.

One blend. Multiple spices. Made specifically for seafood.

You choose the fish.
You choose whether to grill, fry or curry it.
You choose the fresh ingredients.

We've simply made the seasoning easier.

Try It This Way

For an easy Fish Masala fry, combine Fish Masala with ginger, garlic, lemon juice and a little salt.

Coat firm fish fillets or pieces and allow them to marinate briefly.

Pan-fry in a little oil until golden on the outside and cooked through.

Finish with fresh lemon and serve alongside rice, salad or vegetables.

Beyond Fish Curry

Once you've opened the pack, try it with:

• Pan-fried fish
• Grilled fish
• Barbecued fish
• Fish curries
• Prawns
• Scallops
• Mussels
• Seafood skewers
• Fish tacos
• Fish wraps
• Seafood rice dishes
• Roasted cauliflower
• White beans
• Chickpeas

Although it has been created with seafood in mind, its light, bright spice profile can also work beautifully with other delicately flavoured ingredients.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place to help preserve its aroma and flavour.

Variations:

  • Gravy Version: Add onions, tomatoes, and coconut milk to make Fish Masala Curry.

  • Grilled Option: Cook in an oven/grill for a healthier version.

  • Kokum/Tamarind Twist: Add souring agents for a tangy kick (popular in coastal India).

    Light and lovely!
Such a lovely blend. Light and bright. Perfect for fish or other subtle flavoured proteins like white beans or perhaps cashews. Quite summery but delicious any time.
