Brown Basmati Rice (for 2 servings)

Ingredients:

½ cup brown Basmati rice (rinsed well)

1¼ cups water (or vegetable/chicken broth for extra flavor)

½ tbsp oil or butter (optional, prevents sticking)

¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions:

Rinse the rice:

Place rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until it runs clear (removes excess starch).

Soak (optional but recommended for better texture):

Soak rice in water for 20–30 mins, then drain. (Reduces cooking time and improves fluffiness.)

Cook:

In a small saucepan, heat oil/butter (optional), then add drained rice and toast for 1 min (enhances nutty flavor).

Add 1¼ cups water and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for 30–35 mins (no peeking!).

Turn off heat and let it sit, covered, for 5–10 mins. Then fluff with a fork.

Tips for Perfect Brown Basmati Rice:
