Cumin seeds 1kg

Recipes & Uses

Perfect for Tempering & Tadka

Whole Cumin Seeds are traditionally used for tadka, an Indian cooking technique where the seeds are fried briefly in hot oil or ghee until fragrant and sizzling.

The flavoured oil and seeds are then added to dals, curries and vegetable dishes for an extra layer of aroma.

Toast & Grind for Fresh Cumin Powder

For maximum flavour, toast the seeds in a dry pan for around 1–2 minutes until fragrant, then allow them to cool before grinding.

Freshly ground cumin is excellent in garam masala, curry powders, taco seasoning and homemade spice blends.

Ideal for Rice & Pilafs

Toast Whole Cumin Seeds and add them to basmati rice, pilafs and biryani for a warm, savoury aroma.

They can also be fried briefly in oil before adding the rice and cooking liquid.

Great for Pickling & Brining

Whole Cumin Seeds can be added to pickles, chutneys and brines, where their earthy flavour gradually infuses into the finished recipe.

Use in Breads & Savoury Baking

Cumin Seeds are also excellent in flatbreads, savoury breads, crackers and cheese-based baking.

Use them whole or lightly crushed depending on the texture you prefer.

How to Use Cumin Seeds

Use the seeds whole, toasted, lightly crushed or freshly ground.

For tempering, heat oil or ghee, add the seeds and cook briefly until they begin to crackle and release their aroma.
