Fish Masala 70g Spice Blend

The Secret to Flawless, Fragrant Fish Curries

Transform your seafood dishes with our expertly crafted Fish Masala. This unique blend is specifically designed to complement the delicate flavour of fish and seafood, not mask it. We combine zesty coriander, warm turmeric, fragrant fennel, and a touch of tangy amchur (mango powder) to create a bright, aromatic profile that enhances natural flavours and eliminates any unwanted "fishy" tastes.

This is the ultimate spice mix for creating authentic Indian fish curries, Bengali-style masalas, and simple grilled seafood with confidence. It brings a beautiful balance of earthiness, subtle heat, and citrusy notes that pair perfectly with any white fish, salmon, or prawns.

Why Choose Our Fish Masala Blend?

  • Specially Formulated for Seafood: Designed to complement delicate fish flavours without overpowering them.

  • Eliminates Fishy Tastes: The blend of spices works to neutralize strong odours and enhance freshness.

  • Bright & Zesty Flavour Profile: Features amchur (mango powder) for a subtle tang that cuts through richness.

  • 100% Natural & Free-From: Contains only pure ground spices. No added colours, MSG, or artificial flavours.

Culinary Inspiration: How to Use Fish Masala

Create stunning seafood dishes with ease:

  • Classic Fish Curry: The essential base for Goan fish curry, Bengali machher jhol, or Kerala meen curry.

  • Marinades for Grilling: Mix with lemon juice and oil to create a quick marinade for grilled fish or prawns.

  • Pan-Fried Fish: Coat fish fillets in the masala before pan-frying for a crispy, flavourful crust.

  • Prawn & Seafood Curries: Use to make quick, flavourful curries with prawns, scallops, or mussels.

  • Fish Tacos: Sprinkle over grilled fish for a spiced twist in tacos or wraps.

How to Use: For curries, fry 2-3 tablespoons in oil for 30 seconds before adding liquid. For marinades, mix with lemon juice, oil, and ginger-garlic paste.

Storage: Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry place to protect its potent aroma.

Recipe for Fish Masala

Fish Masala Fry (Using Fish Masala Powder)

Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 15 mins (+ 20 mins marination)
Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients:

For Marination:
  • 500g (1 lb) firm fish (e.g., Tarakihi, lemon fish, or salmon)

  • 1 tbsp fish masala powder (SpicenEasy)

  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp rice flour or semolina (for crispiness, optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp oil (for frying)

Optional Tempering (Tadka):
  • 1 tbsp oil

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • 2-3 curry leaves

  • 1 dried red chili

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Fish:

  1. Clean and pat dry the fish. Make shallow cuts (for better spice absorption).

  2. In a bowl, mix fish masala powder, red chili powder, turmeric, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, salt, and rice flour (if using).

  3. Coat the fish evenly and marinate for 20-30 mins.

2. Shallow Fry the Fish:

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat.

  2. Place the fish gently and fry for 4-5 mins per side until golden and crispy.

  3. Remove and drain on a paper towel.

3. Tempering (Optional but Recommended):

  1. In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp oil.

  2. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chili. Let them splutter.

  3. Pour this tempering over the fried fish for extra aroma.

4. Serve Hot:

  • Garnish with lemon wedges and onion rings.

  • Pairs perfectly with steamed rice, dal, or roti.

Variations:

  • Gravy Version: Add onions, tomatoes, and coconut milk to make Fish Masala Curry.

  • Grilled Option: Cook in an oven/grill for a healthier version.

  • Kokum/Tamarind Twist: Add souring agents for a tangy kick (popular in coastal India).
