Prep Time: 10 minutes
-
Cook Time: 5 minutes
-
Serves: 6-8 (as an appetizer)
Ingredients:
-
8-10 SpicenEasy Dried Figs, stems removed, sliced into rounds
-
1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch thick rounds
-
150g soft goat's cheese (chèvre)
-
2 tbsp honey, plus extra for drizzling
-
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves, plus extra for garnish
-
2 tbsp balsamic glaze
-
Olive oil for brushing
-
Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
-
Optional: Toasted walnuts for crunch
Instructions:
-
Prepare Bread: Preheat oven grill to medium-high. Brush both sides of the baguette slices lightly with olive oil and place on a baking tray. Grill for 1-2 minutes per side until golden and crisp. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
-
Prepare Fig & Goat's Cheese Spread: In a bowl, combine the goat's cheese, 2 tablespoons of honey, and fresh thyme leaves. Mix until smooth and spreadable. Season with a pinch of black pepper.
-
Assemble: Spread a generous layer of the honeyed goat's cheese onto each crostini. Top with 2-3 slices of SpicenEasy Dried Fig.
-
Garnish & Serve: Drizzle with balsamic glaze and a little extra honey. Sprinkle with additional thyme leaves and a crack of black pepper. Serve immediately.
Chef's Tip: *If your dried figs are a little firm, steam them for 2-3 minutes to soften and plump them up, making them easier to slice and even more luxurious to eat. For a flavour explosion, add a few crushed toasted walnuts on top. These crostini are best assembled just before serving to keep the bread crisp.*

Reviews

★★★★No nasty preservativesThe variety of natural colours and texture of these figs indicates they have not been processed and preserved to give a consistent dark glossy colour. This may look a little less appealing but is so much better for our health. The special price was also better than at most supermarkets Many thanks.
