Not Rice, Not Pasta... It's Both! Explore Pasta Risone.
Looking for a fun and versatile ingredient to refresh your meals? Spice n Easy's Pasta Risone is your answer. Its unique shape allows it to be used in ways that traditional pasta cannot, seamlessly integrating into dishes where you might normally use rice or small pasta like pastina.
What is the Difference Between Risone and Orzo?
They are the same thing! Risone means "large rice" in Italian, while Orzo means "barley." Both names refer to this small, rice-shaped pasta.
How to Use Pasta Risone in Your Kitchen:
-
Hearty Soups: Add directly to simmering broths like Italian wedding soup or a vegetable minestrone for the last 10 minutes of cooking.
-
Creamy "Orzotto": Use it just like risotto rice! Toast the dry pasta in butter, then gradually add warm stock, stirring until it becomes creamy and al dente.
-
Refreshing Salads: Cook, cool, and toss with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, and a herb vinaigrette for a stunning cold pasta salad.
-
Simple Side Dish: Boil and toss with pesto, butter, and Parmesan for a quick and delicious side that pairs with everything.
-
Stuffed Vegetables: Use as a filling for bell peppers or tomatoes, mixed with herbs and meat or plant-based mince.
-
Baked Dishes: Use in a Greek-style giouvetsi, baked with meat and tomato sauce.
