Black, White and Green Peppercorns are the fruit of the same flowering vine, Piper nigrum, native to India, picked and dried at different times to give each a unique flavour.
Green pepper, like black pepper, is made from unripe drupes.
Red peppercorns usually consists of ripe peppercorn drupes
White pepper consists solely of the seed of the ripe fruit of the pepper plant, with the thin darker-coloured skin (flesh) of the fruit removed.
